Casual Wear
[Page 1][Page 2]
Stuff that we wear in public. Hard to believe some of these would be allowed in public ^_^, but still...
I will not let my love for Yaten bias me. However, Yaten looks sooooooo good! I'm serious, the green really brings out her (it's the manga ;_;) electric eyes. It's very well cut to fit Yaten. It has a very clean look to it. Seiya's is almost exactly like Yaten's, except it's sleeveless, white, and the shorts are longer. Or is that a skirt? For some reason I see Seiya heading off for a tennis match in that outfit. Strange. It's nice and clean-cut, even though it IS a little country-club-y. Taiki bothers me. It's not the top; the top is OK, but the skirt. . . Can we say hippie? It looks very out of place among the shorter, UNpatterned outfits that Yaten and Seiya are sporting. And those sandals. . . I forgot, is Roman messenger-boy sandals in style nowadays?
Naoko experiments with the outers on this one, but she leaves the inners pretty much alone. Usagi and Chibiusa are in matching strawberry-colored outfits that look really cute; Ami's dress is poufy, but still cute with the plaid; Rei and Makoto are wearing jumpers, I believe, of their aura; and Minako is wearing a blouse that in my opinion is a bit too baggy, but otherwise it looks good. Now on to the outers. Haruka and Setsuna look pretty decent, actually; it's Hotaru and Michiru that I have the problem with. ARGH! Why in the world is my dahling Hotaru turning punk on me? The world is about to end! Dear Hotaru is much much too young for a short skirt, fishnet stockings, and boots. Actually, NONE of the senshi should be caught dead in that ::shudder::. And this is my pet peeve with Hotaru in general: she wears way too much black. For gosh sakes, she's a KID! A colorific kid! Actually this is aimed towards the animators more than it is toward's Takeuchi-san; she does give Hotaru colors to wear. Ahem. Now on to Michiru. I guess this was around the invention of the skant (skirt + pant in one, ugh). She's wearing a brown skirt over brown pants. Yuck. The brown skirt actually has potential, IMHO, but we'd have to get rid of her jacket and pants and start all over.
Actually I'm not sure if this is casual or formal. Seems like a cocktail sort of thing to me. All of these are very nice. A recurring theme is small, light-colored flowers. I like Rei's especially, even though you can't see part of it (picture not scanned completely). It's a contrast to the others, dark and velvety. Gorgeous. Chibiusa's has a mite too much frills, but it still looks cute. The ever-crazy Minako looks coyboy-ish, what an *interesting* surprise! She has this previously unexplored look to her, and I think it's great. I think Ami's dress was patterned after those chinese outfits in the old times (I have a book of chinese art). All I can say is: two thumbs way way up! It's loose, flowing, feminine... I can't se much of Makoto's, so I'm trusting my instincts here ^_^. Usagi's kinda reminds me of drapes, I don't know why. Maybe it's the material.
::sigh:: I may as well start with the good things about this collection. Hotaru looks nice. She's dressed in black, GRRR, but she still looks nice. The jacket is elegant and yet fun at the same time. I love the stripes on Rei's dress. Again, fun, and it looks good on Rei. Ami's outfit is pretty generic. Usagi's looks really nice with that peasant top and the little heart on her belt. She actually makes red shorts look good! Chibiusa is half cut off, maybe for the better >XD. Minako's is *interesting*. The jacket should be shorter, but other than that, it's cute. Michiru is OK in a baggy blouse, which the ever feminine Michiru seems to show up in all the time 0_o. I don't understand what's up with Makoto's. It looks nice, but somehow all these layers keep popping up, until it just looks really confusing, and basically, ICK. The same thing with Setsuna. The layers are messy and uneven. To quote this one fashion review I once read: "She looked like she couldn't decide what to put on and wore all of them at once!".
And now Haruka... ::bangs head on table:: Is there a polka convention I didn't hear about?! Think to yourself a moment. A STRIPED VEST. Need I say more? I don't care much for the pants either.
